Please read these terms and conditions carefully, as by placing an order and paying your booking fee you are agreeing to the Ts&Cs.
Quotes
Quotes are valid for 30 calendar days from the date of quotation. Your order is not booked until a booking fee has been received. Once your booking fee has been received you are in a legally binding contract with Jax’s Cakes ‘N’ Bakes, it is your responsibility to have checked all the details on the order form to check that they are accurate as this is how your order will be made. You will be informed of the price on your booking form, this price is final unless you change the design. Change in design might not always be possible and may result in a price increase.
Designs
All though Jax can use photos as inspiration she can’t copy another bakers work. If colour swatches are provided Jax will do her best to match as close as possible though exact colour matches are not guaranteed.
On occasion Jax will photograph her cakes and she reserves the right to use any photographs for display or promotion without compensation to you.
How to store
The cake is a fresh product containing no additives or preservatives and it is our right to assume consumption on the day requested. Cakes should be stored in a dry place, at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat, in the box provided. They should NOT be refrigerated.
Models & Flowers
Jax will notify you of any inedible models on your cake but where possible will use edible decorations. If a wedding cake is to be dressed with fresh flowers provided by your florist please inform Jax as some flowers are not suitable for use as a cake decoration. Ask Jax or your florist for details regarding toxicity. We cannot be liable for any contamination to our food product that may arise from their misuse.
Payment & Cancellation
For weddings & events the booking fee is 50%. All other cakes such as birthdays & anniversaries the booking fee will be set depending on the design of the cake. For celebration cakes the rest of the balance is then payable on collection. For wedding orders the balance needs to be paid two weeks before the wedding. Jax shall contact you three weeks before to remind you. Late payments will incur a £25 charge.
Should you cancel your order, charges are as follows;
More than ninety days prior to the date = booking fee only.
Ninety days to one calendar month prior to the date = booking fee plus half the remaining cost.
Less than one calendar month prior to the date = full amount
Any payments previously made are not refundable.
This is due to Jax having turned down other customers, but should you move your wedding date and she has availability you could change the date. For celebration cakes if you cancel eight weeks before the date of collection you can have your booking fee refunded after that date Jax will be unable to refund it. In the unlikely event that Jax needs to cancel your order any money will be refunded.
Cake Collections
All cakes are to be collected at a prearranged time. Unless you request delivery which will be charged on distance. Once you collect the cake it becomes your responsibility to transport it safely. Jax recommends in the boot of your car, keeping the cake flat and making sure there is nothing able to fall on the cake should you suddenly need to apply the brakes. By collecting the cake you are agreeing that you are happy with it.
Delivery
Jax recommends delivery for wedding cakes. Should you not be there, she will set up the cake for you and leave instructions with the venue. Jax takes photos once the cake is set up. Once Jax leaves it then becomes the responsibility of the venue and Jax can’t be held responsible for any damage they may cause. Jax keeps photos of the set up cake if you need evidence that any damage was their fault.
Cake stands
Breakages/damages will result in your deposit being kept.
Complaints/Refunds
Complaints are very rare. Jax puts a lot of time and effort in to each order to make them perfect. If for any reason you are not happy, please get in touch within 24 hours, you need to return cake so that Jax can inspect it. If the cake is not returned then no refund will be offered. No refund will be offered if the person collecting the cake was happy with the design.
If a refund is agreed both parties agree not to post any negative information about the other on any online forum or website without providing advance written notice of the intended content thereof, and providing the other party with a prior opportunity to resolve any issues between the parties amicably.
Allergies
Jax’s cakes are made in an environment where nuts, egg, milk, gluten and other allergens are present. Jax can accommodate allergies however her kitchen isn’t a specialised free from kitchen so all though she will do her best to not cross contaminate by using separate equipment the cakes will still be prepared in the same environment. It is your responsibility to notify Jax of any allergies.
